Creating, moving, rotating and scaling 3D shapes in Maya

This tutorial explains how to create 3D objects and how to move, rotate, and scale 3D objects you have made. You will also find out how to see your objects in different views (perspective and orthographic), how to see your objects as wireframe or shaded, and how to view all the information about an object.

There are two types of 3D objects we will look at in this tutorial:

  • NURBs (made up of smooth curves)
  • Polygons (made up of flat faces put together)
A NURB is made of smooth curves. NURB stands for non-uniform rotational b-spline

A polygon is made up of faces put together. Each face is flat.
