Using the Equal Constraint Tool in Onshape

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) with Onshape

🕑 This lesson will take about 5 minutes

In this lesson, you will learn how to use the Equal Constraint tool in Onshape. This tool allows us to create precise relationships between sketch entities, such as lines and arcs, by specifying that they are equal in length, angle, or position.

To begin, we will start by creating a new document in Onshape and drawing a simple 2D sketch using the sketch tools. This sketch should include at least two entities that we want to relate to each other using the Equal Constraint tool.

Next, we will select the Equal Constraint tool and specify the relationship that we want to create between the selected entities. This could be an equal length, equal angle, or equal position relationship.

Once we have applied the Equal Constraint, we can use the sketch tools to adjust the position and orientation of the entities in the sketch. The Equal Constraint will maintain the specified relationship as we make these adjustments.
